BACKGROUND on this
topic
Many
people have more than one email account, and some of us have MANY email
accounts associated with our jobs and interests. The reasons for
various email accounts varies, but the results are the same. We all have
to keep up with the contents of many email accounts, and sometimes it gets
to be confusing and hard to do.
That's whe we think this little email management tool is very helpful. It is very helpful to manage the various mailboxes for different classes or groups, plus a home email account. It is called EPROMPTER and it is FREE!
EPROMPTER
This
is the cool little program we will be using for email management. Here's
an article by Dr. Anna C. McFadden, partner
in emTEch Consulting and faculty memeber of The Institute for Interactive
Technology, College of Human and Environmental Sciences, The University
of Alabama.
The
ASSIGNMENT
1.
Go to http://www.eprompter.com
2.
You will see this screen, from which you will download EPrompter.
You will download to your
TEMP file just as instructed in the downloading instructions, just like
the other files you have downloaded. Once you get it downloaded and
opened on your computer, click on MENU as shown below and select SET UP
and then WIZARD. Here's the screen capture of how this should look.
From there it will step you through the set up process. Set it up to manage your BAMA mail and at least one other email account. I have several; look at my eprompter screen that shows on my Computer and you will see what I mean.
As you can see above, many
accounts can be managed with this little tool. Above you see five
different email accounts, all being managed with eprompter.
THE
PRACTICE ACTIVITY
1.
You will set at least two of your email accounts
(probably work and home) through the Eprompter management program.
2.
You will take a screen capture of your eprompter screen, just like the
one included above that shows these email accounts. Use WINCOPY
to do this and take it as .jpg or .gif. REMEMBER: No .bmp files!
THEY ARE TOO BIG! Send this to your supervisor, professor or a colleague,
just to demonstrate you did this skill.
TURNING
IN THE PRODUCT IF YOU USE THIS AS PART OF A COURSE OR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH
PROGRAM:
1.
Send an email to the assignment mailbox for your section of the class,
supervisor or friend
2.
Attach the WINCOPY file as a .gif or .jpg to the email.
3.
SUBJECT LINE: Eprompter
Suggested GRADING CRITERIA, if you are using this for professional development or a course. This is just a suggestion if this is being used as part of a course or professional growth activity. It is also suggested that there be 'an assignment' mailbox for such activities.
